Conflicts, Looting and Illicit Trafficking

Looting of antiquities from archeological sites have become a key issue in international security due to the link to the financing of terrorism and armed groups. The United Nation Security Council has emphasised this situation in several Resolutions.

The attention to looting mostly focuses on conflict areas. This research project zooms in on the effect on looting of archeological sites in countries neighbouring conflict zones.
