Danish Ratification of the Second Protocol

The Danish Government has decided to ratify the Second Protocol to the 1954 Convention for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in the Event of Armed Conflict.

The 23. June 2017, The Danish Government decided to ratify the Second Protocol of 1999 to the 1954 Convention for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in the Event of Armed Conflict.

The Second Protocol strengthens several provisions of the Convention and its First Protocol concerning the safeguarding of and the respect for cultural heritage and the conduct during hostilities.

The ratification marks an important step for Denmark’s work with the rising challenges of cultural heritage in the context of armed conflict.
