2023 NATO Conference and Workshop
NATO conference “Cultural Property Protection and NATO: Experiences, Practices and Trends”, 9 February 2023, at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, hosted by the NATO Human Security Unit, Office of the NATO Secretary General. The conference was held in the Main Conference Room at NATO HQ and gathered NATO delegations, NATO organisations, and NATO Centres of Excellence, as well as other international organisations and academic experts, to support NATO’s work on a NATO policy on Cultural Property Protection.
The Expert Conference Workshop on NATO and Cultural Property Protection, “The Hague and beyond The Hague: a new integral perspective for CPP in modern conflict and crisis?”, was held on 10 February 2023 at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The workshop gathered academic experts and NATO staff participating in the conference to support Allied nations and the NATO Human Security Unit with recommendations for drafting a NATO policy on protecting and handling issues related to cultural property in NATO-led operations and missions.
The events were initiated, organised, and co-funded by the Nordic Center for Cultural Heritage and Armed Conflict (CHAC) through a grant from the Queen Mary’s Centre, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
