Cultural Heritage in the Era of Identity Wars
How should we understand the developing role of cultural heritage in armed conflict? Why is this happening now? What can it tell us about conflicts, violence and the human condition at our particular time in history?
This research project examines, from a sociological perspective, the developing role of cultural heritage in armed conflict. It focuses on the politics and practices that in various ways mobilise and circulate political, legal, moral, material and namely emotional dimensions of cultural heritage for various aims and purposes.
